Frog Legs is a genre-blending masterpiece of indie gaming, taking elements of Frogger, Doom, and Resident Evil and mashing them together to create a truly joyful, if woefully short, experience

Within Frog Legs, there are a few puzzles that will need to be completed before you progress. None of them are particularly challenging, but if you do get stuck at any point, here’s a complete walkthrough for every puzzle.

How to unlock the Fuse Box in Frog Legs

The fuse box in Frog Legs

The Fuse Box is the first puzzle you’ll need to solve in Frog Legs, as it’s how you turn the lights back on in the house after losing power. You’ll need three things to complete this step:

  • The key to the locked room downstairs
  • The replacement fuse
  • The code for the padlock on the fuse box

Where to find the key

The key to the locked room downstairs can be found in the small sideboard, under the stairs in the living room, as soon as you get downstairs. Remember to pick up the golden fly from the top of this unit, as you’ll need it to complete the “Toadally Fly” achievement.

Where is the replacement fuse?

Once you’ve found the locked fuse box, finding the replacement fuse is simple. All you need to do is turn 180 degrees and open up the middle upper cabinet opposite the fuse box. You’ll find the replacement fuse inside.

What’s the code for the padlock?

Margaritas in Frog Legs

This final part of the puzzle is a little bit trickier, requiring you to closely examine your surroundings within the house. Although the lock will allow you to input six numbers, you only need four to unlock it. The clue here is the sticky note attached to the front of the fuse box, which you’ll need to separate into its individual parts:

“Grandma loves margaritas.”

  • Grandma (75)
    • Once you’ve found the key and opened up the locked room, you’ll find Grandma’s portrait. Carl will describe how he hasn’t seen Grandma since her 75th birthday party, hence the 75 on the portrait.
  • Loves (1)
    • Head back into the living room and look at the heart cushion on the sofa with “#1” on it.
  • Margaritas (6)
    • On the other side of the living room, there’s an arch leading into the kitchen. In here, you’ll find four immediately visible margaritas (two on the table and two on the kitchen counter), one hidden margarita in the fridge, and then you need to take into account the margarita visible in the portrait of grandma. This makes a total of 6 margaritas.

The final code you need to unlock the fuse box is 7516.

How to get out of the prison cell in Frog Legs

The lock on the prison cell door in Frog Legs

Once you’ve been through your first major jump scare, you’ll awaken in a much more realistic-looking prison cell, and your only way out is by completing another code-based puzzle. Again, it’s all pretty straightforward, but here’s the rundown.

First, approach the largest of the three cell walls and interact with the loose brick in the center to find a note. This note is your hint for the code:

“Pots and rings and reading things.”

Again, you’ll need to separate this down into its individual parts to figure out the code and escape the cell:

  • Pots (5)
    • Look around the cell and count up all of the pots laying on the ground around the bed. Make sure to move around, because there’s a smaller pot hidden behind some larger ones.
  • Rings (8)
    • There are a number of rings lining two walls of the cell. Counting this up will give you the second letter of the code.
  • Reading things (13)
    • There is a book lying on the bed within the cell and, if you interact with it, you’ll see that it’s the 13th edition.

The code for the lock on the prison cell door is 5813. Interact with the lock and then click each dial to move the numbers around, making your way out of the cell.

How to get past the gargoyle in Frog Legs

Gargoyle puzzle in Frog Legs

After escaping the cell, you’ll immediately need to complete another puzzle to get past a gargoyle blocking the way. This is the first of two statue and item-based puzzles that can be pretty confusing if you don’t interact with everything.

First, interact with the stone gargoyle to be given a hint:

“One defends against the Gargoyle while the other attacks it from behind.”

This hint refers to the two frog statues, one on either side of the gargoyle. Notice that the gargoyle is facing toward the frog on your left. Sadly, both frogs are sans weapons or protection, so you’ll need to locate the following items:

  • Spear
    • Turn 180 degrees from the gargoyle and head into the first prison cell on your right. The spear can be found propped up inside the open coffin against the right-side wall.
  • Shield
    • The shield can be found in the cell directly next door to the one where you found the spear, leaning against the back wall of the cell.

Once you’ve picked up one of the items above, head to the statues and interact with them to place the items in the following configuration:

  • Shield on the left
  • Spear on the right

Once you’ve done this, the gargoyle and the wall behind it will slide down into the floor, allowing you passage to the next area and the next puzzle.

How to open the door in Frog Legs

Three frog statues in Frog Legs

As soon as you descend the stairs, you’ll find a selection of skeletal body parts that can be picked up and carried with you. These are needed for the second statue puzzle, which can be found toward the left end of this corridor.

Once again, it’s a good idea to interact with the three frog statues here to get your hints, and then figure out what body parts they want. You only need three of the bones, and here’s a hint: you can completely ignore the foot.

Here are the hints, along with the body part you need to solve them:

  • Left frog
    • “Best SLOW COOKED” – Rib cage and spine
  • Middle frog
    • “Don’t MIND if I do” – Skull
  • Right frog
    • “I find your froggy face HUMOROUS” – Long bone

After placing the correct bones with the correct frog statue, you can turn around and get down to business with the combat segment of Frog Legs. There aren’t any more puzzles after this point, so you can relax a bit now.

All golden fly locations in Frog Legs

Golden fly in Frog Legs

Throughout Frog Legs, there are six golden flies to discover, and collecting all of them will unlock the “Toadally Fly” achievement. You can see how many golden flies you’ve left to find on the Chapter Select screen, in the bottom right corner.

Here are the locations of all six golden flies and which chapters you can go back to if you missed them the first time around:

  • Chapter: Crossing the Road
    • On the road section of the 2D Frogger game
    • In the upper left corner landing spot of the 2D Frogger game
  • Chapter: A Normal Life
    • In the room opposite your bedroom, on the wall between the windows
    • On the small sideboard in the living room, under the stairs
  • Chapter: Ribbit & Tear
    • On the back wall inside the cell, next to the one where you woke up
    • Next to the left frog statue during the puzzle with the body parts
