Side quests are part of the basic joy of any fantasy adventure game and The Knightling is no different, packed with quests that will completely distract you from the main quest of rescuing Sir Lionstone. One of these quests, Forgotten Fates, will give you a riddle and send you on your merry way.

I’ve always hated riddles. They wrap my brain up, tying my thought process in knots, sending me off on tangents that are completely unrelated in any other situation but somehow seem completely logical when faced with a weirdly worded puzzle.

Thankfully, the riddle in Forgotten Fates isn’t too strange, and it can be worked out pretty easily.

How to pick up Forgotten Fates in The Knightling

Where to find Cassandra in The Knightling

Forgotten Fates can be picked up by talking to Cassandra in Clesseia. She’s the fortune teller with a crystal ball for a head, hiding in one of the alleys close to the location where you pick up the Hide and Reek side quest. She’s down in the dumps, because people don’t believe her fortunes anymore, but you offer your help and she sends you off with the following riddle:

“On top of the rock that splits the road between colors, five high jumps will reveal some of the riches of the Outskirt’s acres.”

The rock you need to jump on to complete Forgotten Fates in The Knightling

The Outskirts is a brightly colored patchwork quilt of flower fields, so you’ll need to find a rock that splits a road between them. I’ll be honest, I wandered around the Outskirts for a while, jumping on all sorts of rocks and probably looking a little bit mad, but the rock you’re looking for is remarkably (and annoyingly, considering my jumping adventure across the area) easy to find.

In Dyer’s Acres, head south until you get to the fork in the road and then hop up onto the rock that sits in the middle of the fork, directly in front of the ruins where you pick up the Forgotten Coins of the Outskirts quest.

When you get on top, the rest is pretty simple: Just double jump five times. Once you’ve done that, a short cutscene will play, and a treasure chest will appear at the foot of the rock, waiting for you to open it.

Forgotten Fates quest rewards in The Knightling

Reward for completing Forgotten Fates in The Knightling

Inside the chest, you’ll find two Guilders and one Metal Part, which isn’t exactly the most exciting reward, even if both items are useful for upgrades or cosmetics. You’ll also get 80 food in the form of two Fruit Pouches, which is always useful. The main rewards for this quest are given when you return to Cassandra.

For convincing her that she hasn’t lost her fortune-telling touch, she’ll give you a Slice of Panforte. Finding four of these will permanently increase your maximum health, so they’re well worth seeking out.

She’ll also give you a whole Panforte, which instantly increases your maximum health. These two sweet treats more than make up for the disappointing contents of the chest you discovered.
