Escape Rooms, whether virtual or real-life, are designed in a way to make you use all of your brain power to come up with a solution that helps you get out of a room. They can either make you feel really smart if you succeed, or really stupid if you overlook something obvious or can’t figure out the answers. Echo Protocol is a new sci-fi escape room that will test your memory.

Echo Protocol has been developed by Steamy Cup Studios and released on July 18, 2025. It’s set in a seemingly abandoned laboratory, and you’ll need to have a good head for numbers if you want to make your way through the various chambers and reach freedom. 

The main mechanic in Echo Protocol is codes, and completing puzzles to figure out the code for each door. As you progress through the doors, you’ll slowly begin to unravel the mystery of what happened in the lab and how you ended up being the sole person left within. 

This isn’t Steam Cup Studios first foray into the world of escape room games. Their first title, Forgotten Secrets, was released in May 2024. The game had an ancient ruins theme, so Echo Protocol is definitely very different stylistically, but both games are worth playing if you’re a fan of the escape room genre. 

If you want to dive into Echo Protocol or Forgotten Secrets, you can find them both on Steam. Neither game has a demo, but both are reasonably priced and worth the cost if you’re looking for a simple yet enjoyable escape room experience.
