Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be the God of an entire solar system of your very own? Admittedly, that’s a grand dream to have, but the whimsical and wonderful space life sim Curiosmos is here to make that dream come true.
Cusiosmos is developed by Céline Veltman and first appeared on Steam in June 2024. Now, for the first time ever, there’s a public demo available to play, so you can experience Curiosmos in all of its asteroid smashing, planet building glory.
Ugg make planet

I mean this in the nicest possible way: Making planets in Curiosmos makes me wonder how the cavemen felt when trying to figure out how to make tools, mainly because it’s a process of smashing floating chunks of space minerals together to make a central one get bigger. The bigger your planet gets, the bigger those floating chunks become, and the quicker growth becomes.
Once you’ve established a happy little planet (it will literally scream at you if you’re not doing what it wants you to do), you’ll then need to shape it by grabbing asteroids and throwing them at the surface. By doing this, you can initially only create volcanoes by exposing the core of the planet, but then you start to unlock new things to launch at the surface.
There’s life among the stars

Once you’ve made a few volcanoes, you can head back to talk to the sun, your main guidance through this joyride in solar system creation. The sun will tell you to explore the asteroid belt to find water, seeds, and other types of life that can then be thrown at your planet to add new features.
As this is a demo, there is a limit to what you can create, but according to the Steam page, the full game will include moons, evolving creatures, multiple types of weather that can be created on each planet, and a whole host of other features to look forward to. Even without all of these features being available in the demo, there is a sense of replayability in the fact that no two planets you create will ever be exactly alike.
Curiosmos does not have a release date for the full game just yet, but if you want to play around in the vast cosmos and create your own solar system, or at least the very beginning of one, go and download the demo right now through Steam!
